Surcharge Procedure
Surcharge is a method for the government to recover all losses or losses on the part of the government that have been caused by officers for the following reasons:
- Failure to collect monies due;
- Improper payment of monies;
- Loss, shortage or damage of government property;
- Failure to properly maintain records; and/or
- Failure or delay in making payments due.
