Surcharge Procedure

Surcharge is a method for the government to recover all losses or losses on the part of the government that have been caused by officers for the following reasons:

  1. Failure to collect monies due;
  2. Improper payment of monies;
  3. Loss, shortage or damage of government property;
  4. Failure to properly maintain records; and/or
  5. Failure or delay in making payments due.
