1. What is the difference between counseling and guidance?

Counselling is a face-to-face assistance process between a Psychology Officer and a normal client while guidance is a process of helping individuals towards knowledge, understanding and skills.

2. Who is eligible to receive counselling services in the Psychology Management Division, PSD?

Apart from civil servants, PSD-sponsored students and government retirees are eligible to receive counselling services at the Psychology Management Division, PSD.

3. How do I make an appointment with a Psychology Officer in the Psychology Management Division, PSD?

Appointments can be made by email, phone, letter or walk-in (voluntary) to the Psychology Management Division, PSD.

4. What kind of problems can be discussed?

The kind of problems that can be discussed include performance and career, health, family, development and skills, spirituality, finance, attitude, addiction, psychosocial problems and others.

5. Are the things discussed during the counselling session kept confidential?

Any issues/information discussed in the counselling session is confidential and will not be disclosed in detail to any party without your consent except:

  1. For referral cases, a brief report will be submitted to the Head of Department that referred the case.
  2. A situation that can bring danger and harm to yourself or to others.
  3. A situation that has proven to be in violation of existing laws, regulations of the state and organizations such as crime and so on.
6. Are the counselling sessions in the Psychology Management Division, PSD charged?

No, counselling sessions are provided free of charge.
